
The decision followed the recommendations of the National Judicial Council (NJC) at its 74th meeting held between November 4 and 5 to consider various allegations levelled against him by Shell Petroleum Company Nigeria Limited.
A statement by the acting Director Information of the council, Soji Oye said the allegations levelled against Justice Akanbi were contained in the petition, which the NJC considered.
The statement added that before his compulsory retirement, the NJC in the exercise of its constitutional powers, at the same meetings suspended him from office.
