World Bank tasks Ekiti Assembly on Accountability

The World Bank Task Team Leader, Mr. Ikechu-kwu Nweje, yesterday, urged Ekiti State House of Assembly to ensure that an effective procurement system was put in place to ensure accountability.

Nweje made the call during a visit to the state House of Assembly in Ado Ekiti, for the mid-term project review of the World Bank Public Sector Governance Reform and Development Project.

Nweje said the aim was to reduce corruption usually associated with effective utilization of public funds and the reduction by 80 percent of the workload of Houses of Assembly.

Earlier, the Speaker, Mr. Kola Oluwawole, reiterated the commit-ment of the Assembly to ensuring accountability in the handling of public finance.

Khloe Kardashian has set the records straight,following the rumour of Khloe reconcillation with her ex husband 'Lamar Odom' after he was hospitalized as a result of a drug binge in a brothel in Nevada.

"I pulled back on the divorce because there is no rush for it. 'For medical decisions and a ton of other things, it's just smarter that it's put on hold. But that does not mean I'm back with Lamar. It's not even in our brains to think about us having a relationship. Only time will tell.

FG And FAAN Rejects The Rank Of Portharcourt Airport As The Worst In The World

Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has rejected a recent ranking by SleepingInAirports.net which rated the Port Harcourt International Airport in Rivers State as the worst airport in the world.

A statement issued on Tuesday October in Lagos by Mr Yakubu Dati, FAAN's General Manager, Corporate Affairs, disagreed with the ranking and said the organization that carried out the rating exercise failed to take into consideration the fact that the Port Harcourt airport is presently undergoing some re-modelling which will invariably cause passengers and operators in the airport some discomfort. The statement goes thus;

60% Of Illegal Fire Arms In The South East Zone Are Locally Made

Presidential Committee on Small Arms and Light Weapons, PRESCOM, stakeholders’ sensitization forum, held at Enugu for South East zone, has revealed that about 60 per cent of the illegal arms in the zone are produced locally.

Professor Aloysius Okolie, South East coordinator on House Survey, of PRESCOM, said this during a two-day stakeholders’ sensitization forum on the comprehensive national Small Arms and Light Weapons, SALW, survey in Nigeria in Enugu.
